Ambassador Awale Ali “Building Somalia’s Future: A Call to Young Leaders”

Ambassador Awale Ali Kullane called on the Somali youth to actively engage in the development and governance of Somalia, emphasizing that they hold the potential to become the country’s future leaders. His remarks came following the announcement of the newly appointed members of the Somali National Youth Council earlier today

Young leaders in Somalia, with the integrity, ingenuity, and energy I know you possess, follow your heart, learn from Ahmed Midhat Pasha, and strive to leave a legacy.

Pasha (1822–1883), born in Ottoman Bulgaria, rose from humble beginnings to transform societies through reform and service. In Bulgaria, he addressed refugee crises by building schools, hospitals, and infrastructure. In Baghdad, he revitalized agriculture, modernized trade, and empowered communities through cultural renaissances.

His legacy reminds us: Leadership is about justice, inclusion, and building societies—not self-interest.

As Somalia rebuilds, prioritize education, infrastructure, and opportunities that uplift our communities. Leadership is not about titles but the impact you leave behind.

I’ve seen firsthand the incredible potential of Somali youth. You have the power to shape our nation’s future and inspire generations to come. Somalia’s tomorrow depends on your vision, dedication, and courage.
