Key Achievements Under MP Saadaq Omar’s Leadership Highlighted in Ankara Talks

Ankara, Turkey – The Chairman of the Somalia-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Committee, MP Saadaq Omar, led a delegation from the Federal Parliament of Somalia in a pivotal meeting with Turkey’s Minister of Energy, Mr. Alparslan Bayraktar, in Ankara today. The discussions focused on the significant advancements in Turkey’s oil production initiatives, a project closely monitored for its potential impact on regional development and bilateral cooperation.

Also present at the meeting were Somalia’s Ambassador to Turkey, Mr. Fathudin Ali, and Mr. Abdirahim Firat, head of the Turkish Parliament’s Friendship Committee. The session underscored the strategic alignment between the two nations, highlighting ongoing efforts to bolster energy collaboration and broader developmental goals.

Under MP Saadaq Omar’s leadership, the Somalia-Turkey Friendship Committee has made notable strides in strengthening ties between the two countries. Key achievements include progress in oil exploration, the training of Somali armed forces with a special focus on military aircraft pilots and naval officers, and significant support for military equipment provided by Ankara to Somalia.

MP Saadaq Omar’s leadership has also been pivotal in ensuring Turkish parliamentary approval for critical initiatives concerning Somali affairs. This proactive diplomacy has cemented a partnership that fosters mutual growth and enhances Somalia’s strategic capabilities.

The meeting further demonstrated the deepening ties between Somalia and Turkey, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to shared prosperity and security.
