Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Travel to Kismayo Amid Progress in UAE-Led Talks

Mogadishu – Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, on Saturday hosted a high-level delegation from the Arab League to discuss the implementation of a landmark initiative aimed at supporting Somalia’s national education curriculum and promoting the Arabic language.

During the meeting in Mogadishu, Prime Minister Barre expressed his appreciation for the Arab League’s ongoing assistance across key sectors, including diplomacy, education, and state-building. He also highlighted the organization’s role in facilitating debt relief and contributing to Somalia’s broader economic development.

The delegation was led by Zayd Al-Sabbaan, Director of the Horn of Africa and Sudan Department at the Arab League. Al-Sabbaan commended the Somali government for its achievements despite challenging circumstances and underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation between Somalia and the Arab League in political, economic, and regional matters.

According to officials, the visit reflects the Arab League’s continued commitment to deepening ties with Somalia and supporting its reconstruction through targeted educational and cultural programs
