Strengthening Ties: Royal Visit Highlights Kenya-Netherlands Defense Collaboration

Nairobi,Kenya-On the third day of the State Visit, the Royal Couple visited the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC). This programme element showcased the different forms of security cooperation between Kenya and the Netherlands, ranging from military cooperation to countering violent extremism.

The first stop at IPSTC, which is an institute that provides training to future UN peacekeepers from all over Africa, was a visit to a course on Military Peacekeeping Intelligence. This course is sponsored by the Netherlands, and classes are given by a Netherlands-Kenyan instructor team. Accompanied by Netherlands Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans and CS Defence Soipan Tuya, the Royal Couple was invited to participate in the course syndicate work and had a lively interaction with the military students from eight different African countries.
Subsequently, the Kenyan Defence Forces gave a presentation to the Royal Couple about the future of Defence Cooperation between Kenya and the Netherlands. Special attention was paid to joint training and different forms of cooperation in the field of maritime security and military use of Cyber and Artificial Intelligence. A promising future with many ideas for collaboration in the years to come!
