Somali Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe Embarks on Official UAE Visit to Strengthen Parliamentary Ties

Mogadishu,Somalia-The Speaker of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobe), has departed for an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking another significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations. Mr. Madobe’s visit follows an official invitation from his Emirati counterpart and aims to enhance parliamentary collaboration and bilateral relations. He is accompanied by key members of the Somali Parliament, including the Chairman of the Friendship Committee between the Parliaments of Somalia and the UAE, as well as members representing the Arab League.

During their stay, the Somali delegation is expected to hold a series of high-level meetings, starting with the Speaker of the UAE Parliament. The discussions will likely focus on bolstering cooperation in legislative matters, promoting regional stability, and addressing mutual interests shared between Somalia and the UAE. The trip underscores the strategic importance Somalia places on strengthening ties with its Arab League counterparts, particularly through legislative and diplomatic engagement.

This visit comes just two weeks after the Chairman of Somalia’s Upper House, Mr. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, led a similar delegation to the UAE. During that visit, Mr. Abdi Hashi met with Mr. Saqar Gabash, Chairman of the Council of National Unity of the UAE, along with other council members. Their discussions centered around enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in governance, parliamentary affairs, and regional security.

The back-to-back visits of Somalia’s parliamentary leaders highlight a growing diplomatic momentum between Somalia and the UAE, signaling a reinforced partnership through parliamentary diplomacy and mutual cooperation on various regional and international fronts.
