Mogadishu,Somalia-ntelligence sources indicate that the UAE is particularly uneasy about the scale of Turkish military support to Somalia. Diplomatic efforts from Dubai to raise the issue with Ankara have reportedly been dismissed, as Turkey continues to pursue its strategic interests in Somalia, notably in relation to potential oil and shale gas reserves.
The report also notes UAE frustration over Turkey’s growing cooperation with Qatar in the region, with Doha allegedly providing financial support to facilitate the delivery of the equipment.
Among the donated assets are three T129 attack helicopters—advanced aircraft capable of offensive operations, intelligence gathering, and infantry support.
Kenya and Ethiopia have similarly voiced their concerns. Intelligence officials from both countries have reportedly briefed Western partners, warning that Turkey’s actions may shift the balance of power in the Horn of Africa and increase the risk of advanced weaponry falling into the wrong hands.
